Research & Engineering

My research interests are somewhat broad, but primarily lie in the areas of artificial intelligence and machine learning. I have been especially interested in nature-inspired approaches, such as artificial neural networks, evolutionary algorithms, and swarm intelligence. I also enjoy reading, listening to music, walking, traveling, having meaningful conversations, and thinking about questions that might not be possible to answer.

Background

Alex is a Machine Learning Research Engineer at Galois. Prior to joining, he has worked on a broad set of government-funded research projects, covering topics that ranged from explainable machine learning, to the decentralized control of agent/robot swarms, to the generation of synthetic social media data. He holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Maryland at College Park, and a B.S. degree in Computer and Information Sciences from the University of Delaware.
