Ryan Wright

Research & Engineering Lead

I enjoy the philosophical ends of computer science, usually around problems related to language, meaning, and data. Practically, this often means working with type systems, programming languages, compilers, formal methods, graph systems, databases, mathematics, machine learning, and people.

Background

Ryan has studied symbolic systems across many different disciplines. While receiving his bachelors degree in philosophy, he focused on epistemology and formal logic at Covenant College, followed later by masters degrees in linguistics and rhetoric from Saint Louis University. With an in-born entrepreneurial streak, Ryan has founded several companies. He served as Director of Engineering, Principal Software Engineer, and led data science teams at major technology companies in Portland, before joining Galois to lead research teams on practical computer science problems related to deep philosophical topics.
